Great Food & Wine!!!

Proof at 775 G Street in the District has a 57 page wine list!!! And 140 wines by the glass. And their food is excellent. Try the sablefish or roast duck breast on a bed of sweet potato puree. Best of all, their selection of 6 pates with toasted baguette slices is outstanding. Friends loved their strawberry rhubarb shortcake and sticky toffee pudding. Dress is casual and the Verizon Center and newly opened Portrait Gallery are minutes away.

Old Town Trader Joe's

If you haven’t been to the Old Town Trader Joe’s lately (as we had not), you’ll be surprised to find that they have expanded. No more rubbing elbows with other folks as you roam the aisles. Looks like a larger selection of meats and produce and still a huge variety of inexpensive wines. It would be easy not to fire up the stove all summer by trying their prepared fresh and frozen foods. If you are a single diner, there are individual frozen fish portions and plenty of frozen single portion packages. I can never leave without a bunch of their flowers!
