The Sweet Spot

Just when the threat of snow and wintry mixes fades, there’s a chance to get out and walk around Washington before the tourists descend. Be a tourist yourself and take at least one of the many walking tours offered with folks who know to stand on the right on Metro escalators. Georgetown and Embassy Row tours at marykayricks@gmail.com, Jeanne Fogle (the lady who advocates for improvements to the National Mall) is at tdforce@aol.com. Lafayette Square and Adams Morgan are covered by Anthony Pitch (info@dcsigtseeing.com) and major memorials are explored at info@dcbyfoot.com. Washington Walks offers the most comprehensive list (washingtonwalks.com) which includes food, history and haunted tours. These are all fee based tours, but you can also download itineraries for self guided tours – just google walking tours Washington, DC.
